Some murals stand out because of their colour or scale. Others draw you in because they ask you to look a little deeper. Il Perturbante (The Uncanny) was one of those pieces, its strange, layered imagery inviting a closer look at the details and ideas hidden within the work.
Created by Italian artist Alessandro Suzzi (Gods in Love), Il Perturbante draws on Sigmund Freud's concept of the uncanny and the idea of the “double.” The work explores the tension between the self and the parts of ourselves that remain hidden or repressed, turning a public wall into a surreal exploration of identity and the unconscious.
