About Us
Nobody really knows who the person behind Whistling Grannies is.
Just rumours of a traveller crossing from country to country, hunting down pieces of the world most people never stop to notice.
More than 100 countries later, they came back with more than photographs.
Walls that spoke louder than museums.
Street corners layered with history.
Graffiti carrying anger, hope, rebellion, humour, heartbreak and freedom.
Alleyways.
Tunnels.
Railways.
Forgotten streets.
Pieces of cities hidden in plain sight.
Some walls were destinations. Others were discoveries. Every photograph captures a real piece of street art, in a real place, at a particular moment in time.
And every wall has a story.
Whenever we can, we find the artists behind the work, learn more about what they created and make sure they're properly credited. When we don't know who made something, we'd rather keep searching than guess.
Whistling Grannies grew from a simple idea: art this good shouldn't only be experienced on a concrete wall thousands of miles away.
It should travel.
It should live.
It should be worn.
Selected photographs from the archive become pieces you can wear and collect — carrying the art, its story and a little piece of where it came from out into the world.
This isn't just clothing.
It's the world, one wall at a time.
