Some murals draw attention through their colour or scale. Others do it through the conversation they create. Haunted stood out because it asks you to look beyond the artwork itself and consider the story behind the face staring back from the wall.
Created by Kosovar artist Fitore Alísdóttir Berisha for the 2023 Balkan Trafik Festival, Haunted explores the impact of femicide; the pain and grief it leaves behind and the way violence from the past can continue to haunt the present. Now part of Brussels' PARCOURS Street Art program, the mural also reflects Fitore's belief in art as a space for healing and moving toward a more compassionate future.
If you're the artist, or know how to reach them, we'd love to connect. Our goal is to properly credit and celebrate the artists behind the work we discover.
