I photographed this piece in Santiago during a time when the city's walls had become part of the conversation. A raised black hand, a small red heart in the palm, and a broken chain stretching across the wall. Simple, direct, and impossible to ignore. Like much of the street art that emerged during the Estallido Social protests, it transformed public space into a place for expression, solidarity, and resistance.

During the mass demonstrations of 2019 and 2020, the streets around Plaza de la Dignidad became a constantly changing canvas of posters, stencils, murals, and messages. Much of the artwork from this period was intentionally anonymous, with the focus placed on the collective voice of the movement rather than individual recognition. This piece reflects that spirit and remains part of the visual record of a pivotal moment in Chile's recent history.

If you're the artist, or know how to reach them, we'd love to connect. Our goal is to properly credit and celebrate the artists behind the work we discover.
