Before arriving in Belfast, I already knew ADW's work and had hoped to see some of it in person. Deep Love was one of the murals I set out to find. A vintage deep-sea diver carrying a mermaid isn't an image you forget easily, and seeing it on a brick wall was every bit as striking as I'd expected.
Created by Irish street artist ADW, Deep Love depicts a deep-sea diver carrying a mermaid, her hand resting gently against the diver's helmet. The contrast between the heavy diving suit and the delicate connection between the two figures gives the mural a sense of mystery, imagination, and quiet emotion that has made it one of the artist's most recognizable works.
If you're the artist, or know how to reach them, we'd love to connect. Our goal is to properly credit and celebrate the artists behind the work we discover.
