Some murals stop you with their scale or colour. Others do it with a simple message. You Are Not Alone was one of those pieces. The portrait, surrounded by vivid colour and foliage, draws you in first; then you notice the words across the hat: You Are Not Alone.
Created by Lisbon-based mural artist Mr Garpear for the You Are Not Alone Murals project, the piece was created specifically for women, carrying a message of support, solidarity, and finding help when it's needed. Painted in Graça in November 2024, it became part of a global public-art project using murals to spark hope, connection, and conversations around mental health.
If you're the artist, or know how to reach them, we'd love to connect. Our goal is to properly credit and celebrate the artists behind the work we discover.
